Boston Comic Spectacular Returns Sept. 28th with Van Sciver and Anderson

[ENGLISH] BOSTON – The Boston Comic Book, CD/Record & Pop Culture Spectacular is bringing industry superstar Ethan Van Sciver and legendary artist Murphy Anderson to its next big show on Sunday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel, located at 200 Stuart St. in the 6th floor Convention Center. A Wizard Top Ten artist, Van Sciver, along with writer Geoff Johns, revitalized the Green Lantern franchise for DC Comics. Their next project (Flash Rebirth) aims to do the same for the classic Silver Age Flash, Barry Allen.

Van Sciver began his comic book career by creating the independent series « Cyberfrog, » which eventually lead to his being tapped to work on « Impulse » for DC Comics. He later illustrated the adventures of such top characters as Batman, the Justice League of America, and the X-Men before his meteoric rise to superstardom as part of the creative team that brought back Hal Jordan as DC Comics’ preeminent Green Lantern.

As part of Van Sciver’s appearance, the Boston Comic Book Spectacular is producing a limited edition print which will be distributed to all paid attendees. The stunning print features Van Sciver’s illustration of Batman confronting one of his fiercest foes, the savage Man-Bat.

The legendary Murphy Anderson began his comic book career back in the industry’s Golden Age. For over 50 years, he served as penciller and inker on some of the most well known comics of all time, including the character-defining Silver Age adventures of the Flash, Hawkman, the Atom, the Spectre, Adam Strange, Elongated Man, the Justice League of America, Superman, and Batman. Virtually the entire canon of heroes at DC Comics owes much of its stature to the work of Murphy Anderson.

Other guests scheduled to appear at the show include Rich Woodall, David Tata, Don Higgins, Severed Head Productions, Andrew J. LoVuolo of Graphic Illusions Studios, Scott Hamilton, Richard D. Irving, Wicked Unscripted, Dark Tale Comics, Jason Casey, Peter Vinton, Sweet on Geeks, the Secret Identity podcast, and more to be announced soon.

Tens of thousands of New England Comic Book fans have enjoyed previous editions of the popular longtime Boston Comic Book Spectacular which started in 1975 when the hotel was known as Howard Johnson’s 57. It is Boston’s largest comic book convention and the longest-running show of its kind in the same location in the United States. The show features over 12,000 square feet and 130 tables of comic books and their creators, original comic art, and toys, plus a media room with thousands of collectible CDs and records from rock to rap and hard-to-find feature movies on both DVD and VHS.
