Broken Trinity: Aftermath will feature one story written by Ron Marz (Witchblade), the mastermind behind the Broken Trinity series, and another story by up and coming writer Bryan Edward Hill (Mortal Kombat, Kodai Djinn). Artist Jorge Lucas (The Darkness, Pilot Season: Ripclaw) and artist Tyler Kirkham (Ultimate Fantastic Four, Darkness/Wolverine) will be drawing for the issue.
“Continuing the work that Ron Marz started with Broken Trinity is an honor, and the freedom that Top Cow gave me for Broken Trinity: Aftermath is just more evidence that Top Cow continues to support creativity, push the envelope and put quality first,” explained Bryan Edward Hill.
The two stories will explore how the two new artifact bearers will cope with their new power and responsibility. Irish thug, Michael Finnegan, who was introduced when he was hired by Darkness wielder Jackie Estacado in Broken Trinity, comes to terms with his new powers as the wielder of the Glacier Stone. Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away, Glorianna Silver must embrace the power of the Ember Stone to survive after her banishment at the hands of The Angelus.
“Look, it’s got a guy who turns into a frost giant, a lady who turns into a fire-breathing dragon, plus Jackie Estacado being his usual bad-ass self,” Ron Marz quipped, “Short of gorillas riding dinosaurs, what could be cooler than that?”
Two cover variants will be offered for Broken Trinity: Aftermath: one by interior artist Tyler Kirkham and Witchblade artist Stjepan Sejic and another by artist Ryan Sook (Superman/Batman, First Born: Aftermath ) revealed in full color for the first time.
According to the Girls Entertainment Network, “By the end of Broken Trinity a whole new lore has been added to the Top Cow universe.” Broken Trinity: Aftermath aims to satisfy the fan who has, up to this point, only been teased by what the ramifications of the Broken Trinity series mean to Top Cow’s core comic book titles, Witchblade and The Darkness.

Top Cow’s other flagship property, THE DARKNESS, was developed into a major next-generation video game release by Starbreeze and 2K Games and achieved platinum sales status. WANTED, an Eisner-nominated miniseries published by Top Cow from 2003-2005, was adapted into a movie by Universal Pictures and grossed $350 million worldwide at the box office. The movie starred Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman, and another film in the franchise is in active development. A video game adaptation is set for release on March 24, 2009. Virtually all of Top Cow’s other properties are in development as feature films, live-action television, animation or video games.
