“Murphy explained to us that back in ’68, due to scheduling issues, his good friend and comics legend Gil Kane was invited to work on the original comic series. He always felt bad that he didn’t get a crack at it. But it’s our time now to right this wrong!” Catto said. But they have even more planned for Anderson. Joe Ahearn, a Captain Action Enterprises, LLC partner, explained that Murphy will contribute new packaging art for retro toys and collectibles. “Murphy’s art for the original action figure is the gold standard and we’d like to capture that lightning in a bottle again.”
Anderson is also scheduled to be featured at New York Comic Con as part of their Living Legend series. Jay Williams of Reed Exhibitions said, “We are thrilled to be able to showcase Murphy Anderson, an artist who made so many contributions over the years.” Murphy is scheduled to autograph at the Captain Action Booth (#1862) during the NYCC. Anderson will also preview his upcoming cover’s rough sketch at the New York Comic Con in mid-April. This landmark cover is scheduled for issue #2 of the new hit Moonstone series.
