Al Rio Tribute Art Book Volume One on Kickstarter

[ENGLISH] Terry Maltos says: 1962-2012 Álvaro Araújo Lourenço do Rio was professionally known as « Al Rio. » This is Volume One of an exciting new Art Book series! This is Terry Maltos. I was Al Rio’s business partner and friend for almost 10 years. He died unexpectedly in 2012. This Kickstarter campaign is to raise money to publish Volume One in a series of books I’m producing to showcase his incredible artwork.

Al Rio was a very prolific artist! Over the years we shared dozens of projects and I have hundreds of scans of his work to share. This is Volume 1 of what could be a 3 or 4 volume series in which I’ve chosen some of the best and most representative images of his work.

I’m starting back in 2003 and going up to 2005 in this Volume. Material in this collection is mature. There are no nudes but there is some pinups which may be considered « risqué. »

Total Needed? = $5500
Can we do it with your help!

Born Alvaro Araújo Lourenço do Rio in 1962 to Francisca Norma and Albino Lourenço and raised in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil, Al Rio knew from an early age he wanted to be an illustrator. His childhood was influenced by Hanna-Barbera animation, comic characters like Iron Man, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, and X-Men, and artists like John Romita, Gil Kane, José Luis García-López and Stan Drake… (read more in the book!)

AL RIO’S CREDITS:

Al Rio’s comic book credits include Marvel Comics, DC Comics, DC Comics Licensing, Dark Horse Comics, Del Ray, Image Comics, Wildstorm Comics, Chaos Comics, Avatar, Harris Comics, Crossgen and Zenescope.
