Odd Squad Writer To Sign At Golden Apple Friday

[ENGLISH] Los Angeles, CA. (September 17, 2008) – Devil’s Due Publishing and Golden Apple Comics are proud to announce a release party for the new DDP series THE ODD SQUAD this Friday, September 19, at Golden Apple Comics in Los Angeles. The event will feature a signing by the series’ writer Todd Livingston (America Jr., Chopper Zombie), as well as specialty drinks provided by Transphusion Energy. Written by Livingston and Nick Capetanakis with artists Brendon & Brian Fraim (Knights of the Dinner Table: Illustrated), THE ODD SQUAD is a new miniseries from Devil’s Due, Accidental Studios, and Invisible Hand Studios (Urban Monsters, Serpo) produced by Vin di Bona (America’s Funniest Home Videos).

« THE ODD SQUAD is a story Nick Capetanakis and I conceived while still performing live comedy together, » said Livingston. « We wanted to mix Ghostbusters, Get Smart and The A-Team together, and when Invisible Hand approached us about doing a comic with them, it seemed like the perfect time! »

The miniseries follows Charlotte Springs, a little-known researcher who gets drafted to become the new head of the United States Office of Dimensional Defense (ODD). Her first task is to save the son of the President, and in order to do so she will have to make the most of a recruitment pool consisting of her airheaded little sister, a flaky psychic, and a nerdy grad student.

« THE ODD SQUAD is a comedy first, » explained Livingston, « and we’ve created characters who at first appear to be stereotypes, but quickly reveal themselves to be really eccentric. »

Issue #2, out in October, will feature a cover by comic book star Michael Avon Oeming.

The launch party will kick off at 7:00 p.m. Golden Apple Comics is located at 7708 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA.
