Sky Pirates Issue #1 Debuts at MA Comic Book Show

South Attleboro, MA, February 23, 2008 –(PR.com)– In September of this past year, Everett Soares lived the dream of a lifetime – his comic book concept Sky Pirates of Valendor was contracted to be published by Free Lunch Comics. After months of hard work, Soares’ first issue of that series is celebrating its release. On Sunday, February 24th, at the South Attleboro Comic, Card and Toy Show, Soares will be on hand to showcase his latest accomplishment. Joined by the management of Free Lunch Comics, fans will have the chance to experience the various stages of comic book creation through raffles of original artwork and scripts. Artists will also be on hand for commissioned sketches.

The South Attleboro Comic, Card and Toy Show, held at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 304 Highland Avenue, is sponsored and coordinated by Harry’s Collectibles in Norton. In its 13th year, the show draws in vendors encompassing over 80 tables in 3 rooms. Admission is $3.00 and there are hourly raffles. Kids get in free with an adult admission. For more information on the show, or Harry’s Collectibles specifically, visit http://www.mymummy.com.

Soares, creator and writer of Sky Pirates and a finalist in Small Press Idol 2007, published the action-packed story initially as an Issue #0. His success in the competition attracted the attention of Free Lunch, prompting them to make the decision to accept creator-owned submissions. Free Lunch has contracted Soares to a 5-book limited series.

Under the direction of Matt Ryan as President, Steve Kanaras as Publisher and Steve Kuster as Creative Director, Free Lunch Comics (http://www.freelunchcomics.com) has been publishing since 1997. Their flagship title, Bigger, has garnered critical and popular acclaim in the comics community. They have recently expanded their line of creator-owned titles, including a comedy entitled Pork and Beans, a horror anthology called Only in Whispers, a science fiction serial Beyond the Kuyper Belt, and of course Sky Pirates. Several other projects are in negotiations. Free Lunch Comics has expanded in order to diversify their offerings and provide entertaining books for readers of all interests.
